Snell’s O&P Reception
Launches Centennial Celebration

Snell’s Orthotics-Prosthetics will kick off their 100th anniversary celebration on Saturday, February 19, at a reception which will include a live remote broadcast of KWHK’s “The Best of Times Radio Hour”. The 9-11 a.m. reception and broadcast will take place in the Snell’s  at 8730 Youree Drive, Shreveport, and many business leaders and local dignitaries are expected to attend and participate.
Governor Bobby Jindal has issued a proclamation which also will be read during the reception, and Snell’s Centennial Legacy Giving Tree program will be introduced, reflecting a 100-year tradition of service to the community:
All four Snell branches—in Shreveport, Monroe, and Alexandria—will nurture a Legacy Giving Tree whose growth benefits its community. Each visitor to any Snell location may choose from three pre-selected charitable organizations—or nominate their own favorite charity as a write-in candidate—by placing a leaf, complete with their vote, on a branch of the Giving Tree. Leaves will be harvested quarterly at each Snell facility, and a donation made to a different community service winner in each of Snell’s three regions. No donation is required from the voter.
The public is invited to attend the reception to place a leaf on the Legacy Tree, register for door prizes, and participate at a mini-health fair. A historical exhibit outlining 100 years of prosthetic and orthotic care will also be on display.
Snell’s Orthotics-Prosthetics got its start in 1911 in Memphis, Tennessee, as Snell’s Limbs and Braces, established by R.W. (Pop) Snell, grandfather of current owner Clint Snell.
Pop expanded the business to Louisiana, Arkansas, and Kentucky by sending his sons to open up new markets.  Big Jim, the middle son, stood 6’ 8” tall and arrived in Shreveport with $300 in his pocket to start the business.
From that start, the company has grown to four offices, two in Shreveport, one in Alexandra, and one in Monroe. The practice continues to be family owned and operated; Clint Snell’s son Chris is active in company management, and represents the fourth generation of the Snell family to do so.
