Popular Singing Group TEATRO in concert on February 12th in Shreveport

River City Repertory Theatre, Shreveport/Bossier’s only professional theatre company, will present the popular international singing group TEATRO in concert, February 12th at Riverview Theater as a fundraiser for the theatre company. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m.

TEATRO is comprised of four young men who have starred on Broadway and the West End in London in many of the major roles in musical theatre. Often compared to IL DIVO, TEATRO has been called “the theatre world’s first super singing group.” The concert covers a unique collection of timeless classics from musicals including PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, WEST SIDE STORY, CATS, EVITA, THE LION KING, A CHORUS LINE, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, LES MISERABLES, THE SOUND OF MUSIC and ASPECTS OF LOVE. The group’s premiere CD, TEATRO, went gold in its first three weeks of release making it one of the fastest selling musical theatre acts of all time. TEATRO was also requested by Queen Elizabeth II to perform at her 79th Royal Variety Concert.

Accompanied by an onstage orchestra and a 75 piece backing track recorded by the London Royal Philharmonic, the concert moves from one thrilling theatre classic to the next. The list of songs includes: “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “The Music of the Night,” “Can’t You Feel the Love Tonight,” “Maria,” “What I Did For Love,”“I Am What I Am,” “Memory” and “I Dreamed a Dream” among many.

River City Repertory, now in its fifth season, is the first and only professional theatre company in North Louisiana. The company has brought to the area nationally acclaimed theatre artists such as Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie, Academy Award nominee Margaret Avery and television/stage veterans Rosemary Prinz and Anne Lockhart. The company recently produced THE LION IN WINTER and will open its production of the Tony Award winner for Best Play, GOD OF CARNAGE, in March 2011.

Tickets for the concert are $50.00 with a limited amount of Rear Balcony seats for $20.00. A portion of each ticket is tax deductible. On the evening of the performance, one hour prior to curtain, Rush Tickets for $10.00 will be available to Students and Military with a current I.D. Riverview Theater is located at 600 Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport.

Tickets are currently on sale and reservations may be made by calling the River City Rep box office at 318-868-5888 between the hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
