Author! Author! Shreveport’s Celebration of the Written Word
A Summer Fund-raiser for Literacy and Municipal Auditorium

Have you read a good book lately and wanted to meet the author?
Author! Author!, Shreveport’s Celebration of the Written Word, an event promoting reading and literacy that will also raise funds for Friends of the Municipal Auditorium, is scheduled for July 18-19 at the historic building.

On Saturday, authors will present their latest releases in a book store on the arena floor run by Barnes and Noble with a percent of the proceeds going to Friends of the Municipal Auditorium. They will discuss their books, sell them and sign autographs.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under, the military and those over 50. Tickets will go on sale June 16.
Workshops and panel discussions will be released at a later date.

There will be activities for children, including a “fairy best sack lunch” and exhibits from non-profit organizations focusing on literacy.

A fais do do, or grand ball, also at the auditorium, 705 Elvis Presley Blvd., will feature entertainment by Cookie and the King Cakes. It will be from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday. Corporate tables (8 tickets) are available for $200. Single tickets are available for $25.

The festival’s Web site is www.authorauthorshreveport.com.
