The Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN) recognized the winners of the 2007 Assistive Technology Champion Awards at its annual luncheon held at the Louisiana Municipal Association Building, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on November 30, 2007. “These annual awards are designed to recognize Louisiana citizens who increase access to assistive devices and technologies that help people with disabilities to perform necessary tasks at home, school and work,” explained Julie Nesbit, LATAN President and CEO.

Gary Calligas, Shreveport, publisher of THE BEST OF TIMES, was the recipient of the 2007 Media/Public Relations Champion Award. LATAN saluted Gary Calligas and THE BEST OF TIMES for organizing and advertising a Health Care Fair that encouraged over 800 individuals with disabilities to attend the fair and become informed of LATAN’s assistive technology services.
