Dr. Donald A. Webb, noted pastor, professor, former Centenary college President, husband, father, grand father, and great-grand father has recently published a book entitled “The Best Year Yet” which has limited availability, but is a great book for everyone to read and was discussed on the July 29th broadcast of THE BEST OF TIMES RADIO HOUR on AM 1130 KWKH.

Donald Webb was born in the year 1926 of English parents in a Welsh Mining village.  The Great Depression forced the family back to England, where he was fortunate to attend a great school, and then Cambridge University.  During WWII, he joined the royal Navy, serving a captain of HMS Switha – a mine sweeper…

In 1958, Don and his wife, Renee with their children journey to America…where he trained for the ministry. His degrees include a Masters of Divinity, and  PhD. From 1977 to 1991 he was President of Centenary College of Louisiana.  He and his wife Renee have been happily marriage for the past 60 years and have 5 children, and grand children and great grand children.  They have lived in the Shreveport since 1977 where he still ministers and has been actively involved in many organizations and agencies over the past years.  

His new book “the Best Year Yet” he describes as a kaleidograph of an average immigrant family finding the good life in America.

The proceeds of this book will support the Donald A Webb Academy for Leadership and Service of the Volunteers of America’s LightHouse Program in Shreveport.
